Safety and security
Safety is the number one priority here at British Energy. Before all else, it is our duty to ensure the safety of the public, our employees, our power stations and the environment.
This section of our website focuses on safety and security, and highlights the strict regulations under which we operate as well as our award-winning approach to safety issues.

Safety first
Nuclear power is a very highly-regulated industry, and civil nuclear operators must comply with a wide range of legislation and regulations governing safety and security.
British Energy also carries out self-regulation, placing great emphasis on the importance of maintaining and continuing to develop a 'safety first' culture to achieve continuous improvements in performance.
In addition, we strive to comply with external regulatory requirements, implementing and monitoring appropriate procedures to ensure legislative demands and developments are met.
