Heysham 1 station director: Gwen Parry-Jones
Gwen's early career began as a reactor physicist and reactor unit operator at Wylfa power station. Gwen then transferred to British Energy's Barnwood office as an investment analyst, followed by the role of finance manager at Heysham 2 power station in 1995. She spent a period of time from 1999 to 2000 with AmerGen and Bruce Power as part of the start-up team. On her return to the UK, Gwen spent 2 years working as the technical assistant to the Company's chairman. In 2003 she joined Heysham 1 power station as the technical and safety support manager later moving to be work management manager. She was appointed plant manager at Sizewell B power station in March 2007 and subsequently Gwen was appointed station director of Heysham 1 power station in June 2008. Gwen holds an honours degree in physics, a masters degree in banking and finance, and is a chartered physicist.
